This five-day training workshop fills a crucial gap in scientific communication and statistical analyses. It aims to boost scientists' confidence in stakeholder engagement by covering statistical techniques using R-Studio and comprehensive scientific writing. The program, spanning 2.5 hours daily, focuses on descriptive statistics, inferential analyses, ethics considerations, and post-publication communication. Tailored for master's students, doctoral researchers, and seasoned scientists, the workshop offers hands-on learning through case studies. Ultimately, it equips participants with essential tools for effective research communication, positively impacting their careers and productivity.

Preamble
Lack of training and capacity-building in scientific writing can have negative consequences for scientists, such as miscommunicating novel findings, delayed publication of interesting results, and rejection of manuscripts. This negatively impacts career advancement and low individual/institutional productivity. To enhance scientists' confidence in stakeholder engagement, a three-day training workshop will be conducted. Participants will learn how to write, make a meaningful story from their data as well as how to analyze their data using origin pro statistical software. This training will benefit master students and doctoral researchers, help newer and older scientists stay updated with modern science publications and communication trends, and prepare university staff to meet publication requirements for promotion. The training will last for 2.5 hours each day, involving hands-on exercises and case studies.
Part A
- Descriptive statistics- measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion
- Parametric and nonparametric tests
- Inferential statistics- doing analyses with two means groupings and three means
- Testing for normality
- Multivariate analyses-factorial analyses and principal components analyses
- Doing correlation analyses and chi-square tests
- Linear and multiple regression
- Hands on training and analysing case studies
PART B Science communication (Post-publication consideration)
- Presenting the findings at international and local conferences
- Sharing the work through online platform
- Ethical issues in sharing
- Online platforms and restrictions
- Presentation of individual papers and developed manuscripts
